Fabergé Objets d’Art
Fabergé’s celebrated series of 50 Imperial Easter eggs began in 1885, when the very first was commissioned as an Easter present from Tsar Alexander III to his wife. Known as the ‘Hen Egg,’ it has a fine white enamel ‘shell’ and opens to reveal a yellow gold yolk. The yolk in turn holds a replica of the Imperial crown, which contains a precious ruby pendant egg. The Imperial family were so delighted with Egg that they appointed Fabergé as the Royal goldsmiths, with Peter Carl Fabergé at the head of the company. Each unique Royal Egg is a celebration refinement, luxury and technical perfection, and Fabergé have been universally recognised as creators of ornate and precious Objets D’Art since.
