Luminox Bear Grylls Survival ECO 3700 Series Limited Edition Review

Jewellery & Watch News

Together with British adventurer Bear Grylls and ocean conservationists #tide, Luminox has launched its first ever sustainable watch where the strap, case and bezel are entirely made from 100% recycled material. Limited to only 1,500 pieces, the Luminox Bear Grylls Survival ECO 3700 Series watch has been carefully designed to stand up for our world and highlight the importance of a future without plastic.

In the last 500 years, it is believed more than 15 species of marine animal have vanished forever from our oceans – many of which have never even been photographed. With how vast our oceans are, it is likely even more species have fallen but we just never had chance to discover them. This underscores the importance of ocean conversation more than ever. Working together with Luminox on the design with Luminox Bear Grylls Survival ECO 3700 Series Limited Edition, #tide has manufactured a case, bezel and strap made from 100% ocean bound plastic. Developed in partnership with Swiss scientists, the material is gathered by local fisherman off the coast of Thailand who have been trained and paid to gather and sort plastic waste. It is then turned into a granular material that can be injected or spun into a yarn.

When it comes to reducing harm to our wild places and natural environment, we need to be the change we want to see. I am so proud to partner with Luminox on our new Eco Series watch, leading the way towards a future without plastic.” – Bear Grylls

The Luminox Bear Grylls Survival ECO 3700 Series watch was launched on September 19th, the same day as International Coastal Clean-Up Day and already many of the 1,500 pieces have sold out. It’s stand for ocean conversation and a plastic-free future is beautifully commemorated by both Bear Grylls’ iconic slogan #NeverGiveUp and Luminox’s #EverySecondCounts which can be found engraved on the case back. #NeverGiveUp can also be found at 6 o’clock on the ocean blue wave-inspired dial alongside the Bear Grylls logo at 10 o’clock decorated in Superluminova and Luminox Light Technology at key spots for optimal legibility.

The striking 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic case measures to 45mm in size and features a matching recycled plastic unidirectional rotating bezel decorated with a 60 minute scale – perfect for counting down dive times. The 200 metre water resistant case of the Luminox Bear Grylls Survival ECO 3700 Series Limited Edition also features a stainless steel screw in case back, sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating, a screw in double security gasket crown and a sporty blue strap also engineered from 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic material.

While remaining a symbol for a plastic-free future, the Luminox Bear Grylls Survival ECO 3700 Series watch works hard to make changes today with a portion of each sale being donated directly to Project Aware, an institution that works with scuba divers around the globe to protect underwater environments.
