Marco Bicego Launches New Lunaria Alta Jewellery Collection

Jewellery & Watch News

Marco Bicego reveals its most extraordinary jewellery collection yet, creating genuine objects d’art as showcased in the Marco Bicego Lunara Alta jewellery line. The series is the brand’s first ever high jewellery collection and boasts a rare combination of precious gemstones, Florentine-engraved gold and only the most exquisite craftsmanship.

Since 1958, Marco Bicego has demonstrated a valuable talent for uniting design innovation with traditional savoir-faire and this was exactly what we expected to see from them at the Haute Jewels Geneva 2022 showcase. What we didn’t expect, however, was their first high jewellery collection named the Marco Bicego Lunaria Alta jewellery line. Joining the Lunaria family, the series continues to take inspiration from nature, in particular the organic and irregular shapes found there, proving that perfection can be found in the imperfect.

ALTA is the most valuable jewellery collection that we have ever produced. For us, this is a natural evolution: a more extreme, more significant and richer interpretation of the magnificence of natural gemstones. Simultaneously, it is an ode to the incredible craftsmanship of our artisans working at our atelier in Trissino, Italy,”

From the first sketch down to the last polish, every piece of Marco Bicego Lunaria Alta jewellery is entirely handmade in the brand’s Italian workshops, crafted with the utmost care and passion by their exclusive team of master goldsmiths. Each elegant earring, necklace, ring and bracelet showcases the unique craftsmanship the Marco Bicego jewellery has become renowned for, taking inspiration from nature with its beautifully organic silhouettes and delicate detailing. Of all the new single-edition Marco Bicego Lunaria Alta jewellery pieces on offer, there is not one that stands out better from the rest. Each is magnificent in its own right, making use of 18ct yellow gold, diamonds and several of Marco Bicego’s famous jewellery making techniques.

One of the Marco Bicego Lunaria Alta jewellery collection’s most distinctive traits is the Bulino engraving which decorates many of the 18ct yellow gold pieces. Using the “millerighe” burin, an engraving tool that was first used in the Renaissance era, Marco Bicego’s master goldsmiths create a tactile finish on the metal surfaces, adding tiny grooves all in the same direction for a satisfying and silky finish. The effect also leaves a lasting impression on any reflection of light, creating its own minute displays of light play.

Another distinguishing feature of Marco Bicego Lunaria Alta jewellery is the use of diamonds. On many of the earrings, rings, pendants and bracelets, the diamonds are set close together in a pave setting for an unmissable and enchanting sparkle. The diamond weight varies depending on the item you’re looking at, but as always, Marco Bicego isn’t afraid to overindulge their designs with a dramatic number of gemstones. For example, the Marco Bicego Lunaria Alta bracelet boasts a total of 2.4 carats of diamonds while the Marco Bicego Lunaria Alta Chandelier earrings has a diamond carat weight of 1.6.
