What’s the draw?
Fine food and fossils. It’s an unusual combination but one that sits nicely on the menu at Albert’s Eatery where the twin pleasures of nostalgia and convivial dining go side by side. Albert’s Eatery lies within the Museum of Whitby Jet in Wesley Hall, a former Methodist chapel in the heart of old Whitby. It’s packed full of character thanks to the striking features such as the original Victorian tiles. A vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows add to the sense of history, making it an unusual and fascinating place to sit and enjoy a very modern-day breakfast, lunch or dinner.

A Royal Celebration at Albert’s Eatery
Marking a double celebration of Queen Victoria’s 200th birthday and the grand official opening of W Hamond’s Museum of Whitby Jet on Church Street, guests were invited to Wesley Hall on Friday 24th May 2019 to enjoy a champagne reception and an evening of musical and social merriment.
With the rejuvenated building looking resplendent, both inside and out, it was only fitting to see those who attended being greeted by ladies in period costume and being able to mingle with a special guest as Queen Victoria herself made an appearance.
Despite two centuries of royal duties, Her Majesty looked remarkably fresh and was more than happy to put herself in front of the abundance of phone camera and press photographers keen for a chance to take their own birthday souvenir pictures.
