Following the announcement that W Hamond are now official retailers of Messika jewellery, we thought it only right to explore the history and the fine jewellery collections of the Paris-based brand. Here’s everything you need to know about Messika jewellery…
A Brief History of Messika Jewellery
With women all around the world and even celebrity endorsers like Beyonce and Kendall Jenner at their back, it is no surprise that Messika has become one of the most sought after fine jewellery brands on the globe. This success didn’t happen overnight, however, but was thanks to the hard work and passion of its founder Valérie Messika. As the elder daughter of a prominent diamond dealer Andre Messika, Valérie decided to launch her own fine jewellery brand in 2005 in the centre of Paris. She wanted to transform the meaning of diamond jewellery, stepping away from convention and bringing new modern designs to the forefront of fashion.
Already fuelled by her father’s experience with gemstones, Valérie Messika created her first range of Messika jewellery, finding the perfect middle ground between inexpensive costume jewellery and the high jewellery houses that made diamonds seem unachievable to the everyday woman. One of the first collections was the Skinny Bracelet, a design known for its super flexible 18ct gold architecture which moulded effortlessly to the wrist. The design utilised only a small amount of gold and was dressed in stunning diamonds. Shortly later, the Messika Move jewellery collection was launched in 2007 characterised by diamonds that appeared as if suspended in the air. The family of Messika Move jewellery remains the brand’s flagship line, with a piece from the collection selling every 30 minutes.
The Messika Jewellery Collections
Every piece of Messika jewellery, whether it’s a bangle, ring, bracelet, necklace or earring is designed to enhance female beauty and blend the timeless with the contemporary. No collection embodies that more however than the Messika Move jewellery collection. As the name suggests, these stunning fine jewellery pieces aim to create a sense of volume, movement and sensual fluidity helped by brilliant cut diamonds suspended between elements of 18ct gold.
One of the best-selling Messika jewellery lines is the Messika Move Uno which features several 18ct gold pieces handcrafted into a fluid oblong design and set with a central moving diamond. The necklaces, rings and bracelets can be worn on their own or beautifully stacked for a guaranteed on-the-trend look. The Messika Move Noa collection features a similar silhouette but is transformed with a pared down graphic style enhanced with three diamonds at the centre. These statement rings and bangles are a symbol of the love of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
