Jewellery & Watch News
As part of their Geneva Watch Days 2022 releases, Swiss watch manufacturer Frederique Constant refreshes their popular Classics Heart Beat Manufacture watch. Replacing the signature comma-shaped aperture used to reveal the in-house automatic winding movement inside, the design now showcases a traditional rounded window housed within an updated case in a choice of two materials.
Starting with its most obvious evolution, the new Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat Manufacture watches present a gorgeous new dial. As we wave goodbye to the unique comma-shaped aperture that curved its way up the right hand side of the dial, we welcome a significantly more classic circular-shaped opening. It’s a nice clean look with a polished bevelled edge in stainless steel. Around the edge, more refined Roman numerals are used to mark the hours and the hour track itself has been slightly raised to create a sense of depth. The white lacquered dial maintains the traditional blue painted hands for the hours and minutes and the printed black railroad style track both around the edge and in the centre.
Peeking its head through the aperture at 6 o’clock is the Swiss watch brands latest version of their Heart Beat Manufacture movement. Named the Calibre FC-930-3, it takes much of its inspiration from the 2004 automatic time-only movement with 24 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 38 hour power reserve. You can admire the movement through both the front and back of each Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat Manufacture watch, the latter revealing decorations like blued screws, pelage, Côtes de Genève striping and an open worked rose gold rotor.
As it stands, the new Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat Manufacture watch comes in a choice of two case materials, stainless steel as the more affordable option and 18 carat rose gold for the more luxurious finish. Both measure to 39mm in diameter and 10.39mm in height and opt for smooth, fixed, unadorned bezels in the matching case metal and a large onion-shaped crown at the 3 o’clock position. There’s also convex sapphire crystal glass on top and a 50 metre water resistant rating.
Finally, the Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat Manufacture watch in steel elects a classic black alligator leather strap while the rose gold model complements its warmer tones with a brown alligator leather band. Both straps close by a folding buckle engineered from its corresponding case material. The buckles are nicely decorated with the open worked Frederique Constant logo.
The Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat Manufacture watches are part of a limited edition run so they won’t be sticking around in the collection for long. The stainless steel version is limited to 930 pieces while the gold reference is rarer at just 93 pieces.
