The newest addition to Oris’ series of timepieces inspired by jazz musicians is this gorgeous Oris James Morrison AoM watch. It’s stunning blue and rose gold aesthetic is inspired by Australian jazz musician James Morrison and his James Morrison Academy of Music, a jazz-centric school in Australia where the musician himself co-designs the curriculum and lectures the students lucky enough to attend. With the Oris Art Blakey limited edition released only last month, this new model came as quite the surprise, but we are incredibly excited to add it to our wish lists just in time for Christmas!
The Oris jazz-series has become incredibly popular with both watch collectors and music lovers thanks to their subtle but sophisticated inclusion of musician-inspired detailing. The Oris James Morrison AoM Limited Edition is no different with Morrison’s favourite instrument, the trumpet, taking centre stage. The brass instrument can be found on the case back of the watch in the shape of the Academy of Music’s logo while on the dial, an elegant rose gold counterweight is included modelled after the trumpet’s finger hook.
The dial of the Oris James Morrison watch is an instant eye-catcher, not only for its stunning rose gold hands and indices but for its dramatic blue ‘degrade’ dial and classic Arabic numerals. There is something really elegant about the simplicity of the dial and we are very appreciative that the Oris designers chose not to over clutter with a date window or subsidiary dials. The design also perfectly complements the sophisticated black leather strap and classic stainless steel folding buckle with push button release.
Perfectly sized at 38mm, the Oris James Morrison AoM watch will suit wrists of almost any size, male or female. It’s polished stainless steel case and sleek lugs mould comfortably to the wrist while the high quality scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass is coated in an anti-reflective treatment for easy legibility over the dial. Hidden within the case is the Oris 733 autoamtic winding movement, a calibre based on the legendary Sellita SW200-1. It provides classic hour, minute and seconds hands and a power reserve of 38 hours.
