Georg Jensen jewellery brings men and women everywhere a unique infusion of carefully considered craftsmanship and artistic aesthetics. Their selection of sterling silver necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings are the epitome of Scandinavian elegance, created by some of the greatest jewellery designers in the world.
Still to this day, Georg Jensen is considered one of Denmark’s most influential designers. He was born in 1866 in Radvaad, a small town north of Copenhagen and at the age of 14, he decided he wanted to train as a goldsmith. Alongside this, he also studied sculpture and applied arts and was eventually trained as a master silversmith. By 1904, Georg Jensen decided to combine his experience and open his own silversmithery which he named after himself. It was clear to see that the Georg Jensen designs he put out on the market differed greatly to those in competition with him, often depicting the beauty of nature and incorporating elements that were entirely crafted by hand.
With critically and commercially successful collections, Georg Jensen became renowned for his sheer talent and love of sterling silver, capturing the hearts of sculpture and jewellery collectors across the globe. By the 1940’s, the Georg Jensen name had crossed the seas with stores opening around the world including New York, London and Paris. It was shortly before this that Georg Jensen’s son, Søren Georg Jensen took over the family business following his father’s passing, He contracted the help of additional designers to help produce new Georg Jensen designs like Nanna and Jorgen Ditzel, Nebbia Astrid, Henning Koppel, and Arno Malinowski. Together, these names brought the popularity of the brand to new heights during the 60’s.
In the midst of the Swinging Sixties, the Danish jeweller also made history with the launch of their first range of designer watches. Named the Georg Jensen Viviana bangle, it was designed in collaboration with Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe and combined a classic sterling silver bangle with a hand-winding Chopard movement at its core. The design can be found within the Georg Jensen collections to this day, offering highly reflective mirror dials, bangle straps and diamond embellished displays.
Alongside the Georg Jensen watch collections, the brand also showcases a stunning range of modern-day jewellery. One of our favourites is the Georg Jensen Offspring collection designed by legendary designer Jacqueline Rabun. Jacqueline is known for infusing many of her pieces with symbolism and emotion and the same can certainly be said for the Offspring series. The range of sterling silver and 18ct gold rings, bangles, necklaces and earrings feature organic shapes and interlocking elements to evoke human connection and the powerful bonds between family members, such as mother and child.
The Georg Jensen Fusion jewellery collection is another example of the brand’s prowess in contemporary design offering a range of elegant pieces designed to be stacked and layered together for a unique look. Some of the Fusion rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets are also adorned with rare diamond gemstones for a touch of sparkle. Lastly, a new addition to the brand’s portfolio is the Georg Jensen Reflect jewellery line which reinvents the iconic chain necklace with organic shapes and raw sterling silver links for a striking look.
