The highly anticipated Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatch is here offering slender 40mm cases, luxury straps, customisable AMOLED displays and Wear OS 3.0 by Google.
We’re big fans of Montblanc here at W Hamond. Their classic mechanical timepieces are some of the finest and most collectible in the industry, so when they first announced they were launching their own Swiss made smartwatch back in 2017, we had high expectations. The first Montblanc Summit collection was a major success combining premium materials with advanced digital connected features. Since then, we’ve been met with several variations of the luxury smartwatch including the Montblanc Summit 2, the Summit 2+ and the Montblanc Summit Lite. Next in the line-up is the suitably named Montblanc Summit 3 watch, a collection of premium wearables which make history as the first non-Samsung device to run the new Wear 3.0 operating system.
Since the operating system of the new Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatch is one of its most talked about features, let’s start there. Before now, the Wear OS by Google 3.0 had only debuted in a single Samsung device but now its 30% increase in performance, slicker animations and increasing loading time for apps is placed within a Swiss made smartwatch. We’re also promised an improved battery life of around 24 hours and better compatibility with iOS devices. Some of the apps included comprise of a heart rate monitor, a contactless payment system with Google Pay, step counter, Bluetooth, health and fitness tracking, a sleep tracker and GPS. The Wear 3.0 pairs with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, a 1GB memory and 8GB of storage.
As for external features, the Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatches are just as stunning as their predecessors offering a sleek, streamlined architecture in a variety of colourways. The cases measure to 42mm in diameter and are engineered from lightweight titanium with some models opting for a black coated bezel or full black coated cases. Several strap options are also available including leather bands and rubber straps. The cases showcase a fluted crown at 3 o’clock, traditional pump-style pushers, closed case backs fitted with the heart rate sensor and charger connection and a water resistant rating of 50 metres.
Displaying its mass of luxury smartwatch features, each Montblanc Summit 3 watch is equipped with a large 1.3” AMOLED digital display. Renowned for its crisp readability no matter the weather, the AMOLED screen allows you to read data like your heart rate, calories burned or floor climbed effortlessly. You can also choose from several customisable layouts depending on your own taste or the style of dress you opted for that day. If you’re like us and love the functionality of a smartwatch but the look of a traditional analog timepiece, you can enjoy displays which mimic the faces of some of Montblanc’s most popular luxury watches like the Geosphere and 1858 collection.
