Jewellery & Watch News
Coming this June, the Tissot PRX Chrono watch collection delivers the familiar luxury sports watch aesthetic we’ve come to love from the Swiss watch brand’s PRX family with a duo of tri-compax dials, flattened push pieces, integrated stainless steel bracelets and all-round 70’s styling.
Over the past twelve months, the Tissot PRX has become one of the brand’s most coveted pieces, bringing the desirable integrated architecture of past 1970’s watches with modern technologies and handsome dials. Now, as it enters into its second year, the collection expands with the series’ first complication design: the Tissot PRX Chrono. At 42mm in size, the pair of chronographs come in considerably larger than the slimmer 40mm time-only PRX watches but still maintain the stainless steel streamlined finish renowned from the collection. The cases feature sharply brushed planes, highly polished accents and a tall sloping bezel which in a perfect circle frames the dial at the centre.
Another new feature for the Tissot PRX Chrono watches is the seamlessly integrated chronograph pushers on the left hand side of the case. The same screw in crown is present, as is the sporty 100 metre water resistance. There’s also sapphire crystal glass on top and a matching sapphire display case back which nicely reveals the movement inside. Both Tissot PRX Chronograph watches are finished with the iconic integrated bracelet finished in stainless steel and secured by a classic folding buckle.
The two new Tissot PRX Chronograph watches differ in their dial colourways. The first is a vertically brushed navy blue dial set with a silver minutes scale, silver subsidiary dials and Superluminova decorated hands and markers. The second is our personal favourite, featuring a panda-style dial with a vertically brushed silver backdrop set with contrasting black counters and a matching black minutes scale. For further contrast, the silver-dialled Tissot PRX Chrono also features handsome rose gold plated hands and indexes, also finished in Superluminova. Both dial’s also present a date complication between 4 and 5 o’clock.
Powering the Tissot PRX Chrono watches is the Valjoux A05.H31 automatic chronograph movement. It’s a popular calibre on the market offering a high rate of frequency at 28,800vph and a more-than-satisfying power reserve of 60 hours. As we mentioned, the movement is put on display through the exhibition case back and features perlage across the plates, polished bridges and a brushed skeletonised oscillating rotor.
