A Celebration of Captain Cook

Jewellery & Watch News

Captain Cook Watches

Born just thirty miles from Whitby, a certain James Cook moved to Staithes at the age of 16 to work as a grocer’s apprentice and where he got his love of the sea and adventure. To this day Captain Cook remains synonymous with Whitby Town and the two will always go together, for without Whitby, there may never have been a Captain Cook.

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of his Endeavour expedition, BALL Watch Company is proud to reveal the Trainmaster Endeavour Chronometer.

A chronometer 3-hand timepiece with a date display, which design has fully been inspired by Captain Cook’s “Harrison Chronometer Nr. 4”, a timekeeper that he carried with him on his other expeditions to determine his position.

To make it absolutely unique, James Cook’s signature has been appended on the dial and complements the BALL sign above. The sleek blue hands and the thin RR at the tip of the second hand add some elegance to the piece.

The combination of Narrow Roman numbers and delicate Arabic numbers cannot hide its vintage heritage.
