Bremont Battle of Britain Limited Edition Set Unveiled

Jewellery & Watch News

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, Bremont have released an extremely special box set which reveals two timepieces in its honour. The Bremont Spitfire watch and Bremont Hurricane watch are inspired by two iconic aircrafts that defended our nation and feature stunning vintage aesthetics, luxurious leather straps and chronometer certified movements.

Included with the two Bremont limited editions, the sale of each set comes with a remarkable opportunity for the customer to fly in a Spitfire plane at Duxford in the UK. The Spitfire you will fly in is the very same that fought in the major air campaign in 1940 and has been arranged with Bremont’s close partners, the Aircraft Restoration Company. The box where the two special Bremont watches sit also features a disc which can be engraved with the date of your flight. For aviation fans and Bremont collectors, this 80-piece limited edition Bremont Battle of Britain watch set is a once in a lifetime purchase!

So much of our lives have revolved around wartime aviation and mechanical devices. The Battle of Britain was such an iconic time in British history, and all of the airmen from both sides were superheroes of the day (they still are in Giles and my households). It is the epic story of man and machine, the wonderful celebration of gallantry twinned with technological advance. The fact that we have come up with a beautifully engineered set of timepieces commemorating the battle, and with it comes the unique opportunity to experience the adrenaline and history of flying in a wartime Spitfire, is a totally unique offering in the marketplace. It’s all rather special really.” – Nick English, Bremont Co-Founder

The Bremont Battle of Britain Spitfire watch takes its inspiration from the Supermarine Spitfire plane, the most widely produced and strategically important single-seater British fighter plane of World War II. It’s 43mm DLC black stainless steel case is fitted with a special screw down case back stamped with the profile of this very aircraft while the matching black metal dial provides optimal legibility with hands and numerals decorated in Superluminova.

The dial of the Bremont Spitfire also pays homage to Bremont’s first limited edition, the EP120, in which the dial’s design was inspired by the Smiths clocks found in the Spitfires that flew during the Battle of Britain. The BE-54AW automatic chronometer movement provides central hands for hours, minute and chronograph seconds, a date window at 4 o clock, a 24 hour GMT hand, three subsidiary dials for continuous seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hour counters and a power reserve of 42 hours. The piece is completed by sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and a vintage black leather strap with off-white side stitching and a DLC treated pin buckle.

The Bremont Battle of Britain Hurricane watch similarly takes inspiration from a fellow World War II aircraft, but this time the Hawker Hurricane which was numerically known as the most important British fighter during the critical early stages of the war. The image of the Hawker aircraft beautifully decorates the case back of the Bremont Hurricane watch, this time engineered from polished stainless steel and measuring to 40mm in diameter.

Providing a more classic style of timekeeping, the Bremont Battle of Britain Hurricane is powered by the BE-92AE automatic chronometer movement and brings to life hour, minute and sweeping seconds hand, a stop second function, date window at 3 o’clock and a power reserve of 38 hours. The 21 jewelled calibre is protected by a screw down case back with a water resistant rating of 100 metres and sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment. The black metal dial provides exceptional legibility with Superluminova accents while the vintage brown leather bund strap is secured by a classic stainless steel pin buckle.

As a limited edition set of only 80 pieces, the Bremont Battle of Britain watches are not expected to be available to order for long. To get your hands on your own, head over to the C W Sellors website here or contact us on 01335 453453 or at sales@cwsellors.com!
