Two powerhouses of British watch manufacture unite for Bremont’s latest release. The Bremont S500 Bamford watch has been designed in collaboration with the Bamford Watch Department, a company renown for customising existing designs with striking black coated cases. As you’d expect, the new limited edition of 250 pieces delivers exactly that, using Bremont’s iconic Supermarine model as base paired with a rare California dial.
Luxury watch collectors unfamiliar with the Bamford Watch Department are in for a treat. The brand was originally established in 2004 after founder George Bamford realised so many wore the exact same Rolex Daytona as him. To make it different, he applied a black DLC coating to the case which he eventually offered to a range of clients on several other watch designs. He quickly secured collaborations with some of the industry’s biggest names and even launched the first Bamford watch collection, the Bamford Mayfair. George Bamford, founder of Bamford Watch Dept comments, “I have known Nick and Giles for a while now and we became firm friends when I was moving into my Mayfair ‘Hive’ office 7 years ago and they were parking a very cool Jaguar in a car park opposite. I always said we should do something together and this project feels so right. Our signature black with a raised ceramic bezel and unique arrow hand, as well as the California dial, work so well on one of their iconic watches. I love the California dial and the integration of two styles. I feel it represents the blend of two British brands working together. Also using what feels like a military blue, it emulates the crossover and bringing together of Bamford Watch Department and Bremont.”
For their latest collaboration, the Bamford Watch Department unites with another British watch manufacturer to launch the Bremont S500 Bamford Limited Edition. The design takes Bremont’s famous S500 Supermarine mechanical dive watch for the foundation and combines it with a new stealthy black DLC coated case. Below that is a 43mm stainless steel architecture equipped with a matching black ceramic insert bezel with raised 60 minute scale, a screw in crown with crown protector and domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment. As a high-performance dive watch, the Bremont Bamford watch also delivers a helium escape valve which assists in an impressive 500 metre water resistant rating.

At the centre, the Bremont S500 Bamford watch delivers an unmissable California dial, a design new to both the Bremont and Bamford Watch Department collections. The backdrop is finished in black and is set with a combination of matte black hands, large Roman numerals and horizontal indexes, all dressed in ‘California Blue’ Superluminova. The brightness of the lume is astonishing and must be seen in person. Powering the central hands for hours, minutes and seconds hands is the COSC-certified Calibre BE-36AE, an automatic winding movement capable of a 38 hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Completing the Bremont S500 Bamford watch is a black sailcloth strap with blue side stitching and a matching DLC coated stainless steel pin buckle.
