A couple of years ago during the global pandemic, Swiss watchmaker Oris took it upon themselves to add a touch more colour and optimism to the world with the launch of their inaugural Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy watch collection. Dressed in displays of lipstick pink, sky blue and wild green, these pastel-coloured designs were paired with patina-pending bronze cases and a selection of bronze bracelets and perlon straps. Now for the first time, Oris is launching these releases with more classic stainless steel cases in the brand-new Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy Steel collection.
Exactly as before, the new Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy Steel watches come in three vibrant dial shades: lipstick pink, sky blue and wild green. Previously, these playful shades were a bold contrast against bronze cases and bronze-coloured hardware on the dial. The stainless steel cases and matching silvered hands and numerals are a more approachable design choice and will likely make these releases more accessible and popular. All the characteristics of the Divers Sixty Five watch is there including the retro-inspired rounded indexes, shield-shaped 12 hour marker, sword-shaped hands for the hours and minutes and lollipop seconds hand. All of this hardware is coated in glow in the dark Superluminova and a date window is integrated at 6 o’clock.
The cases of the new Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy Steel watches also mimic those before, measuring to 38mm in diameter and 12.99mm tall, equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with the 60 minute scale in relief. Of course, the entire case, lugs and bezel and no longer engineered from bronze, which develops its own natural patina over time. Instead, the case is made from stainless steel with a combination of brushed and polished finishing. The Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy Steel watches boast a screw in crown at 3 o’clock and a screwed down case back engraved with the Oris logo to allow for a 100 metre water resistant rating.
Powering each Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy Steel watch is the well-known Oris 733 automatic winding movement. It fuels the hours, minutes, seconds, and date functions and offers 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides a healthy power reserve of 38 hours. Completing the Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy Steel watches is a choice of two straps: a classic three-row link stainless steel bracelet or a perlon strap coloured in the same lipstick pink, sky blue or wild green as the dial.
