Raymond Weil Maestro Beatles Let it Be Limited Edition Watch Review

Jewellery & Watch News

Raymond Weil and the Beatles are certainly no strangers to one another. In 2016, they unveiled their first collaboration with a Maestro Limited Edition designed in celebration of the Swiss watch brand’s 40th anniversary. One year later, and the English rock band’s Abbey Road album was tributed in a 3,000 piece edition and then 2019 saw their best-selling album, Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, honoured in yet another Raymond Weil Maestro Beatles watch. With still so much inspiration to work from, the luxury watch brand have now announced their fourth Beatles watch with the Raymond Weil Maestro Beatles Let It Be Limited Edition.

The twelfth studio album to be released by The Beatles in 1970, “Let It Be”, topped record charts across the world and for many fans it is considered one of their most significant records since it was their very last. As always, Raymond Weil does a wholesome job at bringing to life the virtuosity of the band with a design wholly inspired by their musical journey. For the first time, a Maestro limited edition is adorned with a skeleton movement, but one that does more than just reveal the automatic movement inside. The openwork aperture on the dial exposes the mainspring barrel, balance wheel, and segments of the gear train through a UK-figurative cut-out to mark the Beatle’s home country with the handset emerging near their hometown of Liverpool.

The Beatles-inspired references doesn’t end there. The dial of the Raymond Weil Maestro Beatles Let It Be Limited Edition is also home to slender rose gold indexes with the marker at 4 o’clock standing out from the rest with a set of four indexes, each tributing a member of the band: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. At 9 o’clock, the Beatles logo is included in perfect balance to the Raymond Weil emblem on the opposite side, both placed against an anthracite Gray sunburst surface. To match the indexes, the slender hands for hours, minutes and seconds are also dressed in rose gold.

The case of the Raymond Weil Maestro Beatles Let It Be watch follows suit to several other Maestro reiterations we have seen, measuring in at 40 millimetres across, 9.2 millimetres thick and engineered from stainless steel. It’s streamlined lugs allow the FSC-certified vegan nubuck strap to hug elegantly to the wrist – a strap material choice made by Paul McCartney who has long demonstrated a massive commitment to animal protection. The strap is finished in a brown woolly texture to recall John Lennon’s coat from The Beatles’ last-ever live performance on the rooftop of Apple Corps in 1969.

The case of the Raymond Weil Maestro Beatles Let It Be Limited Edition also includes a toothed crown, two-step unadorned bezel, sapphire crystal glass and a water resistance of 50 metres. The automatic winding movement exposed through the dial is that of the RW 4215 calibre, based on the SW200. It’s extensive perlage decoration is visible both through the dial and the smoked case back, obstructed by the printing of the Beatles logo. The RW 4215 automatic winding movement promises a 38 hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800vph.

If the new Raymond Weil Maestro Beatles Let It Be watch is going to be anything like its predecessors, we have high expectations that the 3,000 limited edition pieces will be sold out quickly. If you’d like to order your own or you have any questions on the watch, head over to the W Hamond website here or get in touch by calling 01947 603330.
