The W Hamond Platinum Jubilee Jewellery Collection

Jewellery & Watch News

In two weeks’ time, we will get to enjoy a four day weekend in celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. While many will celebrate with street parties and BBQ’s in the sunshine, W Hamond wanted to do something extra special and give our customers a token of the even they can treasure forever. With that in mind, let us introduce to you the W Hamond Platinum Jubilee jewellery collection.

Queen Elizabeth II is regarded as one of the greatest female figures in British history. Having ascended to the throne in 1952, we have enjoyed her as Head of State for exactly 70 years and as such, she has broken the records of all monarchs before her including the previous record of 64 years held by her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria. During her time on the throne, Queen Elizabeth has ensured public and voluntary services remain one of the most important elements of her work with links as both Royal Patron or President to over 600 charities, military associations, professional bodies and public service organisations. For these reasons, and so many others, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee should be celebrated loudly and proudly.

Also joining the celebrations is the British Hallmarking Council, the body which oversees UK hallmarking on all precious metal goods. When creating jewellery, each piece must be stamped with different hallmarks to confirm who made the article, what is its guaranteed standard of fineness, the Assay Office at which the article was tested and marked and the year in which the article was tested and marked. At W Hamond for example, we have our own hallmark to signify our brand, our silver pieces are often marked by 925 and all our jewellery is tested and marked by the Birmingham Assay Office denoted by an anchor symbol. For the year 2022, the British Hallmarking Council has sanctioned a commemorative component mark solely for the Platinum Jubilee. The new mark has been designed by Thomas Fattorini Ltd and depicts ‘EIIR’ over ‘70’ within an orb to mark the number of years Her Majesty the Queen has been in service.

In honour of this exclusive hallmark and the Platinum Jubilee events that will follow, W Hamond has proudly launched a range of Platinum Jubilee jewellery which features a range of bracelets, necklaces and rings stamped with the new collectible hallmark. The line of sterling silver and gold jewellery is home to several gorgeous designs including a range of ingot necklaces and a range of disc bangles, pendants and rings which feature all six of the hallmark symbol centre stage of their design.

Already proving to be some of our most popular pieces, the W Hamond Platinum Jubilee jewellery collection also features plenty of designs set with British gemstones. The famous Whitby Jet stone, which is sourced just minutes away from the location of the W Hamond Original Whitby Jet Store at the bottom of the Abbey steps, is set within both silver and gold for a breathtaking finish. The stone is named after its black, high lustre finish and mirror like shine and as experts in Whitby Jet jewellery, you can expect only the highest quality from W Hamond.

Our W Hamond Platinum Jubilee jewellery collection also reveals several designs set with Derbyshire Blue John. This semi-precious gemstone is found only in the hills of Castleton, Derbyshire in the Treak Cliff Cavern. After sourcing only the best examples of the stone, our talented craftsman and women transform the soft lilac hues, bold purples and sunshine yellows into smooth polished gemstones before placing them into the sterling silver and gold settings.

If you’re looking to forever commemorate your own attendance at the Platinum Jubilee or if you’re an avid jewellery collector looking your next highly-collectible jewellery design, our W Hamond Platinum Jewellery collection is for you.
