Jewellery & Watch News
Garmin’s two best-selling multi-sport GPS smartwatches have been reinvented with a massive set of upgrades for even better wearability. These new “Pro” Editions deliver new training tools like Endurance Score and Hill Score, improved battery life, integrated multi-LED flashlights across all cases and additional case sizes for the EPIX. Let us take you through all the new features of the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro and Garmin EPIX Pro watches…
New Case Sizes for the Garmin EPIX Pro
On its launch last year, the Garmin EPIX was available only with a 47mm case but now with the Garmin EPIX Pro collection, you can buy the lightweight titanium design in three sizes. Alongside the 47mm model, there’s now a smaller 42mm case and larger 51mm case to choose from. This also means new colourways including Garmin EPIX Pro watches in light gold, all-black and bare titanium.
Better Battery Life
Larger case sizes for the Garmin EPIX Pro also means an increased battery life. While the Garmin EPIX Pro 47mm model comes with 16 days of charge in smartwatch mode, 21 days in Battery Saver Mode and 42 hours in GPS Only, the Garmin EPIX Pro 51mm offers up to 31 days in smartwatch mode, 41 days in Battery Saver Mode and 82 hours in GPS Only. The Garmin Fenix 7X Pro smartwatch also delivers an incredible battery life of 37 days of charge in smartwatch mode, up to 173 days in Battery Saver Mode and 73 hours in GPS only with solar charging.
Integrated Flashlight
When the Garmin Fenix 7 watch was launched last year, a major selling point for the largest Fenix 7X model was the flashlight feature. The technology was cleverly integrated into the side of the 51mm case and with just one touch of a button would extend a bright light out in front of you. For the first time, this feature is now included into all sizes of the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro including the smallest Fenix 7S Pro. The feature is also included on all Garmin EPIX Pro watches. Specs for the flashlight remain the same and come with several modes depending on the situation you’re in including an SOS mode and a Strobe mode for running.
Jet Lag Advisor
The new Garmin Fenix 7 Pro and Garmin EPIX Pro watches also feature Garmin’s Jet Lag Advisor which is designed to help you minimise the effects of jet lag. You can use the Garmin Connect app or watch widget glance for recommendations on when to seek or avoid light, when to sleep, and when to be active to help recover from your time zone-hopping trip.
Endurance Score & Hill Score
Two entirely new features for the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro and Garmin EPIX Pro watches are Endurance Score and Hill Score. Both of these are designed to give you further insight into your workouts to help you get the best out of training. Hill Score gives you an insight into your uphill running capabilities by monitoring your uphill running progress overtime based on your VO2 max and training history. Meanwhile, Endurance Score feature combines training data from your workouts to help you understand how training impacts your overall endurance.
Upgraded Heart Rate Monitor
Garmin’s wrist-based heart rate monitor has always been one of the most accurate in the smartwatch world, but things just got even better with the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro and Garmin EPIX Pro watches. The heart rate monitor is upgraded to “Gen 5” for even better accuracy than before and it comes with a new running power feature which taps into metrics such as pace, vertical oscillation, and grade to calculate the amount of power you’re applying to the ground as you run.
New Preloaded Activities
Alongside the mass of preloaded activity profiles already available on the Fenix 7 and EPIX watches, the new Garmin Fenix 7 Pro and Garmin EPIX Pro models come with even more. These include Basketball, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, Football/Soccer, American Football, Lacrosse, Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, Cricket, Softball Baseball, Ice Skating, Inline Skating, Archery, Overland, Whitewater, Kayak, Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, Snorkel, BMX, Motocross, Table Tennis Squash, Racquetball, Badminton and Platform Tennis.
