Last year, the Renault Racing team announced they would be rebranding to Alpine and as a long-standing partner to the team, Bell & Ross celebrated the change with a new range of watches which saw the yellow uniform swapped out for one of blue. The inaugural set of Bell & Ross Alpine watches were all engineered from stainless steel and included the BR V3-94 A521, BR 03-94 A521 and BR-X1 A521. Now, almost exactly a year later, a fourth instalment enters the collection, a limited edition which still honours the blue livery of the Alpine cars but one now paired with a stealthy, lightweight and scratch resistant black ceramic case. The introduction of black ceramic onto the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 Limited Edition makes perfect sense. The material replicates many of the accents found on the new A522 Alpine racing car while also ensuring lighter wear on the wrist and additional scratch resistance. The case is treated to a matte finish across the square-shaped architecture including the four-screwed bezel and the knurled screw down crown at 3 o’clock. The case back is also solid ceramic and pairing with the crown assists in a water resistant rating of 100 metres. For dimensions, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 watch elects a 42mm diameter and a height of 10.4mm.
Ensuring the sporty blue livery of the Alpine cars and drivers is obvious, the dial of Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 Limited Edition watch is adorned with a bold blue inner flange and a matching blue seconds hand, the latter featuring a cleverly-shaped counterweight in honour of the ‘A’ logo for the Alpine racing team. The rest of the dial is finished in matte black and is adorned with large white Arabic numerals and black baton-shaped hands set with glow in the dark Superluminova inserts. A date window is also included at the 6 o’clock position.
Powering the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 watch is the BR-CAL.302 automatic winding movement based on the Sellita SW300-1. It’s a 25 jewelled movement with a 42 hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Securing the limited edition to the wrist is a sporty black perforated rubber strap closed by a black PVD stainless steel pin buckle.
The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 watch is a limited edition of 999 pieces and retails at £3,700.
