NOMOS Glashutte Lambda 175 Years Limited Edition Watch Review

Jewellery & Watch News

Designed in celebration of the 175th birthday of the watchmaking centre of Glashütte, NOMOS have revealed a breathtaking trio of NOMOS Glashutte Lambda 175 Years Limited Edition watches. Available with white, black, and blue enamel dials, these stunning special editions are a visual homage to the German watchmaking centre, the talented watchmakers that reside there and the stunning timepieces they manufacture.

Since 1845, Glashütte has produced some of the world’s finest timepieces including those designed and manufactured by NOMOS. To honour 175 years of craftsmanship at this European watchmaking capital, NOMOS Glashutte have revealed a series of limited edition watches including a trio of Ludwig watches and of course, this new collection of NOMOS Glashutte Lambda 175 Years Limited Editions. Their slender stainless steel cases are unmistakably NOMOS measuring to 40.5mm in width and only 7mm in height, adding a sculptural aesthetic that is barely noticeable on the wrist. A similarly slender bezel encapsulates the enamel dial and secures a hand wound calibre in place.

Powering each NOMOS Glashutte Lambda 175 Years Limited Edition watch is the NOMOS hand-wound calibre DUW 1001, a chronometer certified movement that has been entirely designed and constructed in the region of Glashütte. 29 jewels ensure the watch functions without interruption while the twin mainspring barrels ensure a healthy power reserve of 84 hours. Through the sapphire crystal case back of each limited edition, you can witness the beauty of the fine sunbeam polishing, hand-engraved balance cock and the hand-bevelled edges that make this movement a masterpiece. To mark its place in the NOMOS Glashutte 175 Years series, the balance cock of each Lambda Limited Edition is engraved with the words “Lovingly produced in Glashütte”.

The gleaming surface of the white, black and blue enamel dials adds depth to the already curved finish while sapphire crystal glass treated with an anti-reflective coating provides effortless legibility of the functions beneath. Adorned in blue or silver accents, dependant on the dial colour you choose, the dial of each NOMOS Glashutte Lambda 175 Years Limited Edition provides central hands for hours and minutes, a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock and a majestic 297-degree power reserve indicator which informs you precisely of when your timepiece needs to be hand wound. To complete the sophisticated finish of each Lambda Limited Edition, a Horween genuine Shell Cordovan black strap is added alongside a rounded stainless steel winged pin buckle.

Limited to 175 pieces each and retailing at £5,800, the NOMOS Glashutte Lambda 175 Years Limited Edition watches are available to order on the W Hamond website today.
