The W Hamond King’s Coronation Jewellery Collection

Jewellery & Watch News

In just over a week’s time, the Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty the King will take place at Westminster Abbey in London and in celebration of the historic event, W Hamond is excited to announce our exclusive King’s Coronation jewellery collection. Each of the sterling silver and gold designs are stamped with the new commemorative hallmark approved by the British Hallmarking Council and the four UK Assay Offices.

The King’s Coronation Hallmark

Every piece of fine jewellery we handcraft here at W Hamond must be hallmarked by one of the four UK Assay Offices to confirm its authenticity. Think of these stamps similar to a diamond certificate but instead, a hallmark details the maker’s name, where it was assayed, where it was made, the purity of precious metal and the year it was made. Sometimes, however, a sixth hallmark is included onto the metal to commemorate landmark national events. As of 1st of May 2023 and up until the end of 2024, jewellers can have the new King’s Coronation hallmark stamped on their jewellery to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The hallmark see’s the King’s head in profile on an oval background, designed by Thomas Fattorini based on a medal by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS. Commemorative hallmarks like this are incredibly popular with collectors of rare jewellery and precious metal items. Since the hallmark can be used for only a limited time, the jewellery it adorns captures the historic event in time and provides a narrative that jewellery of any other era will never have. This is exactly what we hope to achieve with our W Hamond King’s Coronation Hallmark jewellery collection, which includes a wide range of sterling silver, 9ct gold and 18ct gold jewellery all stamped with the commemorative Coronation hallmark.

The W Hamond King’s Coronation Jewellery Collection

Our new W Hamond King’s Coronation jewellery collection is filled with an abundance of designs for every style, taste and occasion. Our sterling silver disc necklaces and adjustable bracelets are perfect for those that want to celebrate the hallmark unapologetically with the six hallmarks placed centre stage on their own gorgeous, rounded-square links. The six hallmarks include “CWS” as our maker’s name, the lion and “925” to indicate the purity of the silver, the anchor emblem denotes it has been tested and marked at the Birmingham Assay Office and the letter Y is for the year 2023. Finally, you have the King’s Coronation hallmark to celebrate the year’s historic event.

We also have a beautiful range of King’s Coronation jewellery set with some of our most popular gemstones including Whitby Jet, Blue John, lapis lazuli, malachite, mother of pearl, turquoise and diamond. We have a gorgeous range of W Hamond King’s Coronation rings and bangles stamped with the six hallmarks around the circumference separated by a choice of gemstones. For a more subtle celebration, we also have a range of double-sided King’s Coronation pendants which feature two different coloured gemstones on either side with the hallmarks placed upon the setting’s edge. Some of our personal favourite King’s Coronation jewellery pieces are our miniature Crown pendants which feature a sterling silver or gold coronation crown placed above a perfectly rounded piece of Blue John or Whitby Jet.
