Ever since it first opened its doors in 1860, W Hamond also known as the Original Whitby Jet Store has remained in its original place at the top of Whitby's historic Church Street and at the foot of the famous Abbey steps, becoming an unmoveable part of the town’s heritage. Whitby Jet has been found in several other parts of the world, but it is only on the north-east cost of Yorkshire in England where the finest Whitby Jet is sourced. After the semi-precious stone has been mined from the cliffs, our talented team of craftsmen and women work to shape and polish them into the stunning gold and silver pieces you can see on our website and in our stores.
