Jewellery Valuations

At W Hamond, we have a highly skilled and qualified team of jewellery valuers who can provide you with a professional and detailed jewellery valuation. Whether you require a jewellery valuation for insurance purposes or to demonstrate today’s market value, our simple and affordable valuation service gives you the reassurance that your items are protected by an accurate and detailed report.

In case your jewellery or watch is ever stolen, we ensure all our valuations include a folder with in-depth descriptions, photos and prices of each item so that they will be instantly recognisable for replacement purposes.  Many of our jewellery valuations also include cleaning of the jewellery, hallmarking information, a condition statement and detailed assessments of any diamonds or gemstones if applicable.

Valuation Costs

Whatever type of valuation is requested, we only make a modest charge for the service, giving you considerable peace of mind for a relatively small cost. The fee is usually based on a percentage charge, alternatively, either a time-based fee or a per-item charge. Post loss assessments are usually charged on a fixed fee or according to the time spent on them for more substantial cases. One of our valuers will be more than happy to discuss any costs for this specialised service.

Valuing your Jewellery

A valuation is an informed opinion based upon many years of experience allied with formal training in gemmology and other specialist areas. All our jewellery and watch valuations are done at the highest possible standards proven by our gemmological qualifications and substantial experience within the industry. You can also be assured that W Hamond is a registered valuer governed by the National Association of Goldsmiths and we conform to the requirements of equipment for gem testing and grading with a thorough library of reference material.

A jewellery valuation typically includes but is not subject to:

  • Cleaning of the jewellery
  • Detailed descriptions
  • Details of the assessment of diamonds
  • Hallmarking information
  • Condition statement
  • Provenance or research, if appropriate
  • Visual images, usually digital
  • Values with the appropriate type of insurance qualification
