Jewellery & Watch News
Bremont are having a seriously strong start to the year. In just a matter of months, we have seen the RFU 150 Limited Edition designed in celebration of the England Rugby Football Union’s 150th anniversary and the incredible Bremont Jaguar E-Type 60th Anniversary watch inspired by the first Jaguar E-Type sports car. Then, earlier this week, the brand launched a whole new series of releases including a new Bremont Argonaut Azure watch and a Supermarine S302 model. Moreover, the British watch manufacturer revealed a range of Bremont Supermarine Chrono watches, the very design we want to look at today.
The Bremont Supermarine is arguably one of the brand’s most iconic designs. First launched in 2009, it was engineered to recall the brand’s long history with aviation with a highly legible design suited to the cockpit but with a formidable, high water resistant case and rotating bezel that could be used just as confidently in the air as it could underwater. Now, the design has been transformed for the very first time to include a sporty chronograph complication powered by the BE-54AE automatic winding movement.
Alongside the release of the Bremont Supermarine Chrono, Bremont have announced their newest brand ambassador as former Royal Marine Commando, ex Special Forces Sergeant and current ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ star, Jason Fox. After joining the forces at just 16 years old and serving for twenty full years, Fox is no stranger to adventure. He has planned and led operations including hostage rescue, counter terrorism, counter insurgency, maritime counter terrorism, surveillance, body guarding and counter narcotic missions to name a few. In his role as an official Bremont ambassador, Jason will be sporting his own Bremont Supermarine Chrono watch.
“As a long-standing friend of the brand, I’ve been familiar with the product range for some time and have been wearing Bremont for a number of years already. I have been ‘tested beyond endurance’ my entire life so can fully relate to the brand ethos. I admire and respect what Nick and Giles (Bremont Co-Founders) have managed to achieve, and I can vouch for the quality of the product which has never let me down to date. The Supermarine Chrono is tough, durable, easy to read in hectic situations, reliable in tough situations and it looks slick.” – Jason Fox, Bremont Brand Ambassador
So what exactly does the Bremont Supermarine Chrono have to offer? As with most of Bremont’s watch releases, the Supermarine Chrono is delivered with a three-piece case construction which includes a 43mm case, DLC coated middle case barrel and a bi-directional ceramic bezel. To pair with the bright red GMT hand at the centre, the piece is equipped with a 24 hour scale around the bezel for displaying a second time zone while sword-shaped Superluminova bronze hands for hours and minutes provide instant legibility. At 9 o’clock, a subsidiary dial displays small seconds while chronograph counters for 30 minutes and 12 hours arrive at 12 and 6 o’clock.
There are four Bremont Supermarine Chrono watches to choose from, two adorned with a black dial and black ceramic bezel and two with a blue dial and blue bezel. Each colourway is then paired with a choice of an integrated stainless steel bracelet or a corresponding coloured rubber strap. Both straps are adorned with the Bremont lettering which can also be found on the screw down stainless steel case back water resistant to 200 metres. The case back is also kitted out with exhibition sapphire crystal glass allowing the automatic winding movement and its open work rotor to be showcased.
