Hands-on with the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue Watch

Jewellery & Watch News

Bell & Ross has introduced a new version of their BR 05 GMT watch, drawing inspiration from the sky, the domain of aviation. The pastel blue dial of the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch personifies the spirit of exploration and aviation with its sunray finish matching effortlessly with the iconic urban stainless steel BR 05 case and integrated bracelet.

The Case

Remaining faithful to its predecessors, the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch adheres to the specifications that has garnered the BR 05 watch so much acclaim. It is constructed from solid stainless steel and features integrated lugs and three-row link stainless steel bracelet, signature mounting screws, brushed surfaces and polished edges. The case measures to a nice mid-sized 41mm in diameter and 11.1mmin height and is accompanied by sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment, a screw-down crown with crown guards, and a water resistance rating of 100 meters. While our personal preference is certainly the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch on the iconic integrated bracelet, you can also order the design on a comfortable light blue rubber strap which neatly matches its dial.

The Dial

It is on the dial of the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch where the real difference lies. Unlike the original BR 05 GMT which sported a classic black display, this new release nominates a sun-brushed light sky-blue hue across its dial as a nod to the world of aviation. The 24 hour inner bezel indicates the wearer's home time zone and is also adorned in blue for nighttime hours and silver for daytime hours. A prominent red GMT hand with an arrow tip extends from the centre, aligning with the 24-hour scale to mark yet another time zone, elegantly skimming across the new blue surface beside hands for the hours, minutes, and seconds. All the baton markers, Arabic numerals, and hands are coated with Superluminova, ensuring readability in any lighting condition. A date window is also included at 3 o'clock.

The Movement

Powering the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch is the BR-CAL.325 calibre, an automatic winding movement based on the Sellita SW-330. This movement offers a power reserve of 42 hours, comprises of 25 jewels, and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The power reserve is replenished by a 360-degree oscillating rotor, which is visible through watch’s exhibition case back.
