Tour De Yorkshire is passing through Wonderful Whitby
Tuesday - 03 February 2015
The countdown has begun - it's just 86 days until the first stage Tour De Yorkshire, which is passing through our lovely little seaside town.
The first stage of the event starts in Bridlington, a town just south of Scarbrough, the trail then passes through several towns and villages such as Humanby, Dalby Forest, Pickering, Danby, Grosmont, Robin hoods bay and a few others before visiting Whitby, and finally ending in Scarbrough, after 174km of riding.
The tour is estimated to pass through Whitby at about 3pm, where Scarbrough Council are hoping to set up some stalls and events for the occasion. The schools are even closing early so that nobody misses out on this fantastic event.
W Hamond will be sure to get involved with the events, and keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook page for the chance to win some beautiful original Whitby Jet Yorkshire Jewellery which is inspired by this gorgeous part of England in which we are situated. From the atmospheric Abbey towering over winding cobbled streets to the windswept beach and working harbour, Whitby is not your traditional coastal town. An Enjoy England award winner for Best Day Out, be sure to sample Yorkshire’s best fish and chips, discover ancient vampire legends and sit under the whale bone arch, watching the brightly coloured fishing vessels passing by.
If you're interested in visiting Whitby this year, there is plenty of amazing accommodation available, and activities for all of the family! For more information on Whitby and it's surrounding areas, just click here!
The Tour De Yorkshire will hopefully bring lots of biking fanatics to the town, and give the quiet tourism a boost for the start of the year.
