It is formed throughout a 180-million-year period where petrified wood of a prehistoric tree, similar to today’s Monkey Puzzle tree, became fossilised. Compressed under the crushing weight of rock, sediment, detritus, shells and other marine life at the bottom of the seabed, the material would be starved of oxygen and would slowly turn into the workable Jet you see in our finest creations today.
