Wedding Ring Shapes
There are three main wedding ring styles to choose from: Court, D-Shaped and Shaped.
Court wedding rings are the most traditional and considered one of the more comfortable. They are straight all the way around on the top and bottom and are subtly rounded on the inside and outside of the band.
D-Shaped wedding rings look the same as court wedding rings at first, but the band is curved on the outside and flat on the inside. The D shape of the band is where the style gets its name.
Shaped wedding rings come in a wide selection of shapes that are usually designed to fit around the diamond in an engagement ring. Shaped wedding rings are often found in Bridal sets in which the engagement ring perfectly slots into the contours of the wedding band.
Wedding Ring Metals
Like the design of your wedding ring, the metal type you choose is incredibly important. You need to both love the metal you choose one but and you pick one that is sturdy enough for your lifestyle. For this reason, W Hamond only offer wedding bands made from gold, platinum and palladium since other metal types tend to not be as durable. When considering your metal type, we also recommend considering what other jewellery and metal types you like to wear on a daily basis, especially if you would like it to match.
White Gold is a stunning choice, particularly if you are someone who tends to wear a lot of white gold or sterling silver jewellery. 9ct and 18ct white gold is known for being hard wearing and contains a higher concentration of white metals compared to yellow gold, hence its paler colour.
Yellow Gold is one of the more traditional metal types also renowned for its hard wearing properties. It boasts a warm colour and provides a shine that rarely tarnishes.
Rose Gold has become a fashionable choice for women in more recent years. It achieves its breathtaking colouring from its higher copper content added to the alloy.
Platinum is one of the world’s hardest metals, so you know you are getting an incredibly durable and wear resistant ring in this material. It has a naturally white-toned colour that rarely tarnishes but is a little heavier than other metals.
Palladium is our final metal type, another famed for its natural white colour. Similarly to platinum, palladium is highly durable yet tends to be on the more cheaper side despite its rarity.
Wedding Ring Styles
At W Hamond, we have an endless array of different wedding ring styles for you to choose from whether it’s eternity bands full of diamonds to half eternity bands decorated in sapphires or plain bands kept simple and classic. To keep things uncomplicated, here are the four main styles of wedding rings you may want to consider.
Eternity Wedding Bands are used to described bands set with a continuous line of identically cut gemstones. It doesn’t matter whether its diamonds, sapphire, rubies or emeralds, the line of gemstones is used to symbolise never-ending love.
Half Eternity Wedding Bands similarly feature a line of identically cut gemstones across the band, but rather than being set all the way around they are only set halfway. This is a fantastic choice for those that still want some sparkle but have a slightly tighter budget.
Plain Wedding Bands are a classic choice for both men and women. They feature no gemstones or pattern and are just a simple, classy band crafted from your favourite precious metal.
Patterned Wedding Bands are a unique choice coming in a wide variety of styles. Varying from feminine floral designs, vintage twists, beaded lining and striking hammered detailing, pattern wedding rings certainly capture attention.
Gemstone Wedding Bands have become a popular choice in more recent years and describe any style of wedding ring decorated with precious gemstones. From stunning rubies to elegant sapphires, rare Blue John to unique Whitby Jet, gemstone wedding bands are a stunning choice for those looking for an elegant touch of colour.
