Fabergé pays homage to its history with the release of two rare and beautiful egg objets. Limited to just 10 pieces each, the Fabergé Wild Strawberry and Water Lily Egg Objets celebrate the original flower studies created by founder Peter Carl Fabergé during the early 20th century and have been overseen by Fabergé Workmaster, Dr. Marcus Mohr.
Fabergé’s objet d’art collection is home to some of their finest and most collectible work. Alongside the limited edition Whitby Jet & Diamond Objets created in collaboration with W Hamond, the series boasts a selection of Fabergé eggs beautifully handcrafted using time-honoured materials and techniques, set upon breathtaking stands and adorned with hidden surprises inside. The new Fabergé Wild Strawberry and Water Lily Egg Objets are no different, utilising techniques like guilloche enamel and gemstone setting, all overseen by master artisan Dr. Marcus Mohr and his team.
The skill, patience and attention to detail required to create something like these Fabergé Wild Strawberry and Water Lily Egg Objets is not to be underestimated. Just the guilloche enamel itself takes time to master; the powdered coloured glass must be bonded to the surface at temperatures around 800 degrees centigrade and just a few seconds too long or too short in the kiln can mean the entire creation must be started over. It takes at least three layers and five firings in the kiln to create the final effect.
For the Fabergé Wild Strawberry Egg Objet, bright red guilloche enamel is elected across the 18 carat yellow gold egg. The colour is breathtaking and pairs perfectly with the matching red enamel hand-painted strawberries placed inside. The strawberries are revealed by pressing the ruby-set button and sit beside green enamelled leaves and a flower crafted from 18 carat yellow gold. The flower is also set with six Akoya cultured white pearls and a yellow sapphire at the middle. Other elements of the Fabergé Wild Strawberry Egg Objet include gold guilloche inside the egg, fluted decoration on the base and a hand-carved aventurine stand.
Meanwhile, the Fabergé Water Lily Egg Objet nominates a gorgeous royal shade of blue enamel across the 18 carat yellow gold egg which sits on a hand carved nephrite base. The base in itself is a work of art, featuring filigree detailing and a selection of white Akoya cultured pearls. As for the water lily surprise inside, the flower is unveiled by pressing the Gemfields Zambian emerald square cut button. It is crafted from hand-carved Peruvian pink opal and set with a single brilliant cut white diamond on its stigma. The Fabergé Water Lily Egg Objet is finalised by a green enamel leaf floating on top of gold guilloche water.
